- Environmental Portraits What They Are and Why They Are Important | Sabrina Casas Studio
The Photographer's Blog Issue #015 Environmental Portraits What They Are and Why They Are Important by Emilio Castro www.SabrinaCasasPhotographyStudios.com One of the main reasons to prepare your marketing budget aiming for a set of images instead of a single headshot is based on the same fundamentals that make you switch attire as you move around your life. You do not go to work with the same clothes that you go to the gym. You do not attend a family gathering dressed as if you were to a first job interview. Our social networks are built upon the mix of relationships our life is made of and therefore social media follows. Everyone of us mix some friends from work or clients with our personal Facebook or Twitter. Your personal branding , the images that represent you as your avatar in the digital world, need to adapt to the media and network where they are on use. You want to look good when interacting in Facebook and other social media but using the formal headshot from the corporate office in your personal social media is not exactly the way to fit in... The solution is a good and nice natural light portrait shot on a casual or business casual attire. Having a set of images for your personal marketing allows you to adapt your image to the feeling you believe fits best for the networks you are part of. Moreover having a couple of headshots with different backdrops and attires allows you to renew and refresh your corporate headshots in your company directory. All of which makes others realize you are not just forward-thinking but well prepared. On regards of environmental portraits, these are richer images to introduce the area of your expertise to your audience of potential clients and employers. On these types of portraits we aim to show you in the context of your work environment, be that an office, an airplane cockpit or an offshore platform. You will be usually dressed on your work clothes and we will be shooting at your location. All of which adds complexity to the planning and execution of these portraits. We will usually have a preparation planning session with you a few weeks before the actual shoot and brainstorm on what message you want to send and where you are planning to use the images. Because of the extra effort and additional budget required for these shots they are a very strong asset on your marketing which your competitors will not easily match. - Move Your Headshot at the TOP of your To-Do! | Sabrina Casas Studio
The Photographer's Blog Issue #007 Move Your Headshot at the TOP of your To-Do! by Emilio Castro www.SabrinaCasasPhotographyStudios.com Another situation we often see at the studio is clients who have been with the very same headshot for too long and now they look nothing like their headshot . A lot of today's business and the very important "first contact" happen on digital. Imagine that one of your clients refers you to someone else and that person googles your web page, Facebook or some other pieces of your digital you. Then after a few conversations on the phone, text messages or emails you both meet in person but your client cannot truly tell you are the same person than the one on your (very outdated) headshot... Yes, the awkward feeling will all go away after a hopefully brief and uncomfortable moment but you only have one chance to make a first impression .... We recommend renewing your headshot every three to five years. Keep your profile picture in LinkedIn and your corporate website fresh and current. If you are afraid of the camera, then moreover you need to take this seriously. The reason why we recommend a full photoshoot session instead of a quick shot is because you get extra time to relax and warm up to the camera. While you are not in control of what happens when someone googles you, or what device your client or the headhunter, is using to find you, you do have control of how good that headshot looks and how professionally it presents you. - Christy's Review (Headshots For Success) | Sabrina Casas Studio
The Photographer's Blog Review Christy's Review (Headshots For Success) by Emilio Castro www.SabrinaCasasPhotographyStudios.com SUMMARY Review from one of our happy customers with additional context about what she was looking for and how we met. You can read her review, and many more, on our Google Business Page. CHRISTY'S REVIEW Sabrina & Emilio are the best! Excellent headshots, excellent communication, & very professional. I would highly recommend Sabrina for any of your professional or personal photos. HOW WE MET When we met Christy, she had just started her real estate career and decided to call us to get her headshot ready for her marketing. Like many other professionals beginning in the real estate industry, Christy had no experience with real estate but had extensive experience from her previous job in corporate. Christy wanted to tap into the skills she could transfer from her previous work, including customer service and a can-do attitude, which took her to research and find the right help to create new headshots for a candid and approachable look. At the studio, we help many realtors jumpstart their careers with the best personal branding. Their branding is essential since, often, that headshot will be between the very first pieces of information that a prospective seller will see when referred to or, in some other way coming across a portion of the realtor's marketing (digital or traditional). Here is one of Christy's favorites shots from her session. We helped Christy with a fantastic picture for her profile on HAR , and she was also looking to use the images for her business cards and flyers . If you are considering starting a new career in any area where you will work directly with sales or customer service, let us help you start your new project the right way and show your attention to detail from the start. - Crystal's Review (Personal Branding) | Sabrina Casas Studio
The Photographer's Blog Review Crystal's Review (Personal Branding) by Emilio Castro www.SabrinaCasasPhotographyStudios.com Crystal's Review: I thoroughly enjoyed my photography experience with Sabrina photography! What worked best for me was her artistic eye for the perfect shot/angle and her ability to capture my personality through a photo. Her promptness, professionalism and attention to detail were among the few amazing things that added to this quality experience. I also appreciated her encouragement throughout our session; that really helped me to feel comfortable throughout the process. I would absolutely recommend Sabrina for your photography needs!! Her work is exceptional!!!! When Crystal reached us, I was the one taking the call. Crystal had done extensive research about multiple portrait photographers in the area, and she had experience working with other photographers for family pictures. Still, this time around, she needed someone with both: excellent skills and an artistic eye to help her launch her new business. Crystal had recently started her life coaching career , and she approached her practice with her unique personality to help clients overcome various situations. Crystal wanted to be sure that we captured her upbeat attitude in the images as one of her strengths. Before the photoshoot, Sabrina used Crystal's input to define her shooting plan. During the session, both Sabrina and Crystal connected very well, creating various unique images that worked very well for Crystal, as you can see in the gallery. As the studio manager, I was happy to see once again what I often point to my clients about the fact that, in photography , as in many other businesses, teamwork is key to success . It is not only about our team at the studio working together, but also Crystal (as our client) teamworking with us from the moment of planning to the perfect possing during the photoshoot. - Studio Business Portraits Pros and Cons | Sabrina Casas Studio
The Photographer's Blog Issue #011 Studio Business Portraits Pros and Cons by Emilio Castro www.SabrinaCasasPhotographyStudios.com A full body portrait, standing up or sitting, is a good complement for your headshot and can be used on multiple pieces of marketing from your website to flyers and brochures. However, these larger images will not work very well for LinkedIn and other digital platforms as profile pictures just because the real estate on those platforms is very limited and even a half-body portrait will need to be cropped to make your face visible to the users. The fact that many times your image will render in a mobile device (phone or table) also makes full body portraits too tiny to be effective at LinkedIn or other business apps like Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Oultook. So, these types of images will fail at communicating with your audience. Regardless, there is still room to use this tool in your advertising. A full body portraits is perfect for anyone who has control over the platform and channels where the image is going to be use. Lawyers and professionals in the financial and real estate industries can broadcast their position and expertise thru the strong impression provided by these images. When shooting we have the option to either use natural light or create you portrait with the power and options provided by the full studio setup. Please feel free to learn more about business portraits and options for your job hunting by continue reading our blog or just fill out our Booking & Information contact form to get in touch and have a one-to-one consultation. - The Importance of Professional Team Photos | Sabrina Casas Studio
The Photographer's Blog Issue #019 The Importance of Professional Team Photos by Sabrina Casas, M Photog. CPP www.SabrinaCasasPhotographyStudios.com SUMMARY & CONTENTS This high-level article is about the importance of quality in your team photos , what elements make for a good portrait, and how a professional photographer can help you create the brand image that you are looking for. INTRODUCTION LIGHTING POSTURE BACKGROUND CREATIVITY CONCLUSION MORE RESOURCES INTRODUCTION As a photographer, I have witnessed firsthand the value of high-quality team photos for businesses and organizations. A well-executed team photo showcases the individuals behind your brand and helps convey a sense of unity and professionalism. In this blog post, I will discuss the importance of having a professional photo of your team and highlight key aspects that contribute to a successful group portrait , such as lighting, posture, background, and creativity. Of course, as with anything in life and business, there is much more to discuss as to how often to refresh your team pictures and what to do when you are in the unfortunate situation of having a high turnover, to mention two usual questions that come during most of the initial consultations with our clients. There are suggestions and solutions for all those other situations, but we won't cover that in this article. Don't hesitate to contact us with a comment or your questions using the form on this page . LIGHTING Lighting plays a crucial role in creating exceptional photographs. Ensuring that everyone is well-lit and that shadows are minimized is essential when capturing a team photo. A skilled photographer will use a combination of natural and artificial lighting techniques to create a balanced and visually appealing image, ensuring that every team member is portrayed in the best possible light. POSTURE Posture is another essential element of a great team photo . A photographer will guide each team member on positioning themselves to create a cohesive and visually pleasing composition . Proper posture helps convey confidence and professionalism and ensures that everyone is presented flattering and comfortably. BACKGROUND The background of a team photo can significantly impact the overall aesthetic and message of the image. A professional photographer will carefully consider the background for your team photo, selecting a location or backdrop that complements your brand and adds visual interest without detracting from the subjects. Whether you opt for a clean, minimalist background or a more dynamic, on-location setting, the right choice will elevate your team photo and reinforce your brand identity. CREATIVITY While capturing a professional and polished team photo is essential, there's always room for creativity . A photographer will work with you to develop a concept that reflects your team's unique personality and style. This might include incorporating props, choosing a distinctive location, or experimenting with different poses and arrangements. A creative and well-thought-out team photo will not only stand out but also provide a memorable representation of your team. CONCLUSION Investing in a team photo is a valuable decision for any business or organization. By working with an experienced photographer who understands the importance of lighting, posture, background, and creativity, you can create a powerful visual representation of your team that showcases your collective professionalism and personality. In a competitive market, a high-quality team photo can help to set your brand apart and make a lasting impression on your target audience. - Jessica's Review (Corporate Headshots) | Sabrina Casas Studio
The Photographer's Blog Review Jessica's Review (Corporate Headshots) by Emilio Castro www.SabrinaCasasPhotographyStudios.com Jessica's Review: Sabrina and her team were so easy to work with. They produced beautiful headshots and were extremely helpful and responsive throughout the whole process. Thank you! Jessica works for a large national legal and immigration firm as the Operations Manager. She is based on the West Coast, and though we had never met in person, we already had the opportunity to help her with her Houston team twice this year. When Jessica first contacted us, her firm had hired a new lawyer for their Houston office , and Jessica was looking for a local photographer that could offer quality and a reliable process. We were an immediate match since we already work with other national firms that, with a certain regularity, have new hires in the area and need the same neat, well-crafted corporate headshots Jessica was looking for. The first step in the process was clearly defining the expectations regarding the type of headshot that would work best for the new employee, considering what the rest of the company already had. When possible, we always aim to match whatever look the rest of the team already has on the client's website to provide the consistency a large company needs across its branding. After we had covered the expectations, Jessica only needed to provide us with the contact information for the local employee, and we took it from there. At our studio, we have developed a smooth process focused on our client's priorities and goals. A few weeks after that, Jessica contacted us again, but this time the newer employee was located in Dallas. That was too far to go for us, but we were able to help anyway since Sabrina has an extensive network of professionals at the local and national levels. Sabrina was able to identify another photographer in the Dallas area who could provide the same quality service. We called the photographer and shared the expectations, after which we put both Jessica and the photographer in contact with each other. A few months later, Jessica sent our way a new additional hire which we had the pleasure to portray for their firm. Both Sabrina and I take on developing lasting business relationships with our clients and believe in helping others every time we can. If we don't have the time or are not the fit for our client's needs, we'll still try to point you in the right direction. If you are interested in learning more about our headshots, please try the pages below, call the studio at 281.665.3868 or just fill out the Booking & Information contact form, and we'll reach you back at your convenience. - Professional Photography Part II | Sabrina Casas Studio
The Photographer's Blog Issue #017 Professional Photography Part II by Emilio Castro www.SabrinaCasasPhotographyStudios.com SUMMARY & CONTENTS Here is another quick reading on why hiring a professional photographer makes a big difference for you. Finding a good photographer who takes the time to hone their skills makes a huge difference in how your headshot and branding images work and, ultimately, how they translate into career progression or new business. INTRODUCTION EXPERIENCE CONSISTENCY PERSONAL BRANDING PERFECT LINKEDIN PICTURE MORE INTRODUCTION We live in a highly digitalized and online society. Everyone has a phone, everyone has access to a computer, and everyone participates in some sort of social media platform. Everyone has a camera on their phone. Most people know how to use a few filters and can probably take a decent selfie. So, what is going to make YOU stand out in the job marketplace? I like how Chris Whooley put it towards the end of his article 5 Tips For the Perfect Profile for LinkedIn : " If you are like most of Linkedin's 300 million active users, you'll likely want to invest in a professional photo for Linkedin. " We have the opportunity to meet Chris during his workshop at the Professional Photographers Guild of Houston this year. Highlighy recommended. I will focus on two key reasons to hire a professional, but, like in any other field, there is more than supports the value provided by the expertise and focus a pro brings to the table. EXPERIENCE Experience: The one word that makes a world of difference in the field of professional photography -and in any other highly competitive field. It is just because of our uniqueness as human beings. Each person is different; there are not two of us alike. Our unique features, gestures, and attitude come together in a portrait, and because of that, it is really important that your photographer understands how to deal with the specific treats that make you, you. Besides the training and technical skills necessary to use a camera (and all the other gear you will see around a professional studio), the time photographers spend working with their clients develops the photographer's eye to understand what type of tools, or techniques, will work better for you based on factors like your body type, your face features, hair styling, skin tone, and skin texture. Additionally to that, the experience that comes with working with people who are at different points in their careers, some just out of college and some progressing towards their final position before retiring, creates in the photographer a sense of what types of business portraits work best for specific industries and certain jobs. A photographer's job is to introduce you to your audience , to those who will see you through your headshot as the professional you are. Also important, as a photographer who actively participates in photographic competitions at multiple levels, including local contests at the Professional Photographers Guild of Houston to the ultimate International Photographic Competition , Sabrina brings to the table honed skills tested by the top professionals on the field. A photographer's job is to introduce you to your audience. CONSISTENCY Consistency: In his book " Iditarod Leadership. Unleashing The Power of The Team, " Chris Fuller puts together an excellent quote: " Amateurs practice until they get it right. Professionals practice until they can't get it wrong. " And that is precisely the essence of what consistency means for us as professional photographers. Anyone can put together a webpage with a few decent shots, but it takes a professional to deliver consistent quality for every client regardless of who they are or how they look. It takes a professional to deliver consistent quality. When you choose to work with a pro, you are working with someone who can help you plan the details to create a unique and authentic headshot and even a set of professional images if that is what you need. A pro can help you plan the details to create a unique and authentic headshot. PERSONAL BRANDING Personal Branding: A business portrait is about your branding. That truth applies regardless of your field and the type of company or clients you work for. While many job descriptions sound like cookie-cutter material, the reality is that you approach your job with your set of skills and talents, a combination of hard and soft skills, and the necessary relationships and networking that you develop with colleagues, supervisors, direct reports, vendors, and clients. The longer you stay in a particular industry, the more you develop a specific way to resolve the work challenges on your way, and, together with that, you create a reputation that carries to your network . How does all that relate to your headshot? It is as simple as this: Once you find a photographer you like and who delivers, stick with them. You will need a new headshot each three to five years. The more you work with your photographer, the better they know you and the better your images get from shoot to shoot, helping you develop your brand and build up your reputation. After all, a picture says more than a thousand words. Once you find a photographer you like and who delivers, stick with them. PERFECT LINKEDIN PICTURE Your headshot, as your profile photo on LinkedIn, is one of the core elements of your marketing, and many times your headshot is the very first impression that a recruiter will see of who you are. It is a smart investment to tap into the skills of a professional photographer to make a strong first impression and give yourself a head start over your competition. LinkedIn research shows that a picture makes your profile 14 times more likely to be viewed by others. That alone should give you an excellent reason to consider having a professional headshot regardless of your current job-hunting status. The best time to build your network and prepare for the next step in your career is when you have a solid job. LinkedIn research shows that a picture makes your profile 14 times more likely to be viewed by others. - Headshots and Team Pictures | Sabrina Casas Studio
The Photographer's Blog Issue #005 Headshots and Team Pictures by Emilio Castro www.SabrinaCasasPhotographyStudios.com SUMMARY & CONTENTS This brief article discusses the convenience of bundling individual headshots for the team with a nice team picture and why organizations need to bring their people forward in their marketing. INTRODUCTION PLANNING CONSTANT CHANGE ON-LOCATION TEAM PICTURES BEYOND FIRST CONTACT MORE INFO COMMENTS INTRODUCTION You probably heard or read before that " people are the most important asset of any organization ," and we could hardly agree more. Your team and your people are at the heart of your organization, whether they work at the frontline, making first contact or down-deep in the production line, delivering value for your clients. Most potential clients will research your organization before they decide to contact you. That research will include exploring your website and social media presence. Your clients will try to validate your expertise and the seriousness of your organization to deliver. People like to connect with people . That's why having good team pictures and headshots on your About page, across your website, and on your social media is essential. And then comes the matter of how to create media that is authentic yet professional and approachable, and that's where a professional photographer like Sabrina can help you, from planning to execution and beyond, to bring your team to life in your marketing. PLANNING A team picture is more than just getting everyone together for the shot since considerations such as choosing where to place everyone and how to pose each individual make a difference in the final look of the team . Your team could be small or large. Regardless, we usually offer the option to bundle individual headshots for your employees with team pictures without sacrificing quality by carefully planning how to get these different scopes done. While everyone in the team will need at least a basic headshot , some of your frontline employees and key people in your leadership team with much more media exposure will need a larger package and more carefully crafted images . Again, planning is critical , and that's why our process starts covering several key questions about your organization, your team size, location, and goals, including short-term and long-term views of what you want to achieve. We have the experience and capability with Sabrina to work with your internal marketing team or your chosen marketing agency to create a great initial set of images and then continue forward by creating a workflow that accounts for your future hires. CONSTANT CHANGE A healthy and dynamic business is in constant change. People are hired, promoted, change jobs, or sometimes leave altogether. If you do not account for those dynamics when thinking about how to market your team, you will soon find your website outdated with either "blank" profile pictures or a mix of self-provided images, which will look at the best uncaring and, at the worst, unprofessional. Remember: You are ALWAYS making an impression on your potential clients, whether that's a positive impression or a negative one. One of the benefits of creating a relationship with a professional photographer is that you can rely on your photographer to create consistent headshots and business portraits of your new hires with the same practical and straightforward workflow, matching what you already have from the initial set and ensuring quality and reliability. When doing your due diligence to pick your photographer, it is always a good idea to go beyond just price . After all, there is truth in the saying: " You get what you paid for ." 2022 Was A Great Year! We recommend that your selection process considers factors like the time that your photographer has been in business and specifically working as a headshot photographer , the quality of their previous work, the type and deepness of resources your professional can bring to the table, including editing skills, planning, communication, etc. The worst nightmare you can find yourself in is to hire someone that doesn't show up the day of the photoshoot, shows up later, or doesn't deliver after they have charged you a down payment. ON-LOCATION TEAM PICTURES One of the most popular options for creating your initial set of images is to have us go to your location ( on-location team pictures ). It saves time for the employees that do not need to drive back and forth to the studio, which also is a reasonable consideration from the point of view of safety (fewer people on the roads) and reduces the stress of having to work busy work schedules the day of the photoshoot. Our mobile setup includes backdrops, lights, and other gears to produce a professional result on every image, which we can later reproduce at the studio. The studio option is much better suited for your new hires that will follow later than the road as your team grows and develop. BEYOND FIRST CONTACT Your team pictures and headshots aren't just working for you while your clients research your organization. Still, they can make a difference in every communication , whether that's in the email signature that you set a template for your company, in their LinkedIn profiles or chat apps, social media, business cards, Zoom calls, when working remotely or when your employees are featured on your Blogs, articles, conferences or the many other situations and opportunities that the modern work environment requires from your organization. Investing in good team pictures by creating a relationship with a professional photographer is much more than just a checkbox in launching your website. - Christian's Review | Sabrina Casas Studio
The Photographer's Blog Review Christian's Review by Emilio Castro www.SabrinaCasasPhotographyStudios.com Christian's Review: Excellent customer service, Sabrina and Emilio absolutely exceeded my expectations. I am very happy with the system they have in place to select the best pictures and I'm satisfied with the time and quality I received them. When we first met Christian, he was starting his career in real estate and had just obtained his real estate license. While he did not have direct experience working as a realtor, Christian began investing and selling real estate a few years ago and did so well that he decided to go full-time in the industry. Christian had recently moved from New Jersey, and he realized that having a solid professional image would be imperative since that first impression would work really well for him. Christian didn't have the advantage of a local network of friends and family to tap into when trying to develop leads and gain experience in Houston. During our first call, I pointed Christian to the type of session that could help him cover the multiple marketing opportunities an agent has for his marketing, including the HAR profile picture, business cards, social media pages, and his broker's website . Referral Network - Why Your Headshot Matters One of the main sources of new business generation for realtors is their referral network. That is when someone who knows you, either a former client or someone from your close network, passes your name along to a potential seller or buyer. Usually, your contact information is shared together with some type of appreciation from those who are referring you based on their experience working with you but regardless of that, the most likely next step for that potential client is to Google you ... And guess what piece of marketing would be between the very first your potential client will find online? Yes! Is that headshot you have in HAR, or in your broker's website, or in your new Facebook page. Your headshot is one of the very first impressions you will make on potential clients . Is that a good impression? Your headshot is an example of the quality and attention to detail that you deliver. Think about this as if you were hiring any other service. Would you hire someone who's headshot shows that he or she didn't care at all? Or would you hire someone who looks as professional and successful as the person you are going to trust one of your most important assets? Investing in a good headshot by working with a good photographer is one of those marketing projects that makes a huge difference in the real estate industry. If you are starting a career in real estate and need to develop your branding, please call us at the studio at 281.665.3868 or just fill out the Booking & Information contact form , and we'll contact you at your convenience.
