  • Fernanda's Review (Acting Headshots)

AUTHOR PROFILE Emilio Castro In my role at the studio, as the Studio Manager, I take pride in keeping the logistics of our work running smoothly for our clients from first contact to delivery. I like to think that our customer service is second to none. Of course, having been married to Sabrina for over +25 years, I truly enjoy her every achievement as she creates beautiful work for our clients and her own projects. I have a background in Accounting & Business Management and have worked in the Oil & Gas industry for over 17 years leading supply chain teams in international and domestic markets. I achieved the Lean Bronze Certification during my time at Halliburton and later discovered the benefit of Scrum and Agile Project Management when working for BP. I am a fan of continuous improvement and enjoy leading diverse teams of every kind while working for those large companies. I'm also a self-taught web developer and coder, a Certified Remote Pilot (I fly our drones), and a self-published fantasy author, among many other small feats and accidents. AUTHOR > < Fernanda's Review: "Was a pleasure to work with Sabrina and Emilio. She is an excellent photographer! The headshot was great and exactly what we were looking for." Fernanda reached out to us looking to help her daughter, Beatriz, move forward with her starting career in the acting industry . Beatriz had been taking acting classes with a coach since a few years ago, and she had already had some experience on stage. However, like many young aspiring professionals in the industry, Beatriz had changed a lot since her first headshot. It was about time to refresh her image with a more contemporary look that would help Beatriz match better roles. During the photoshoot, Sabrina helped Beatriz relax, enjoy the session and create images that would show a few expressions she wanted to broadcast for potential roles during her applications. Presentation Cover Having a few different headshots is vital to help you grab the attention of casting directors and in many other areas of your career. Of course, it is also essential that the headshot shows you , your personality, skills, and strengths for those roles that you have better chances of landing. By the way, I welcome you to check the article on Backstage.com called " Actor Headshots: a Guide " with lots of excellent information and tips about this topic (check the link below). These sessions can be anything you need, from just a few well-planned shots to a much more complete session including makeup and hair, a few different outfits, and many images from headshots to full body shots. Most aspiring actors would be fine with a few strong headshots, and you don't need to make a significant investment to get on the right track. While her technical skills and talents have put Sabrina at the top of her game, she approaches photography with an intuitive touch for experimentation. Her skills in the editing field allow her to gain unique insights into the results of those ideas she tries in the studio and during her commercial work in the luxury real estate industry, where she has championed unique looks of stylized lines and luminous perspectives. AUTHOR > < Michele's Review: Sabrina Casas Photography provides excellent corporate photos and advisement throughout the entire process, with a professional eye not just for the photography but also for incorporation into marketing and social media strategy. Sabrina and Emilio were great to work with, communicating throughout the process for planning. We had the pleasure of helping Michele with the headshots for their C-level team , including individual sets of images and team pictures. When she first called, she had carefully reviewed photographers around the area and was looking for someone that could provide consistency and great photos for their marketing. Michele works in an IT consulting company , and from the get-go, it was clear that one of the company's unique strengths was the deep understanding and friendship between the leadership team . They all worked together for several years in various roles and knew each other well. It was clear to me, from my own experience working in large corporations, that their leadership team could tap into each other strengths just because of their genuine working relationship . I wanted to capture that unique aspect of their company with the help of Sabrina's eye and skills as a photographer. As I was working with Michelle during the planning phase, we carefully selected a spot that would fit the company plans to bring everyone together in Houston for about a week -most of the team was based off the West Coast. During the photoshoot, Sabrina was able to create a perfect set of headshots and half-body shots for the individual profiles of each of the executives while also capturing plenty of photos of t he team working together . Meeting the team in person and working with them was fun and provided yet, another opportunity to learn about each of them for the next time. If you need help developing the type of branding that will help show the culture and strengths of your company through your leadership team, please call us. Adding the skills and talents that Sabrina, a top talented photographer, and myself, a former corporate professional, can bring to the table will enrich your pool of options and ideas to move forward and outshine your competition. • Remote Working And Why Your Headshot Matters The Most

I'm also a self-taught web developer and coder, a Certified Remote Pilot (I fly our drones), and a self-published fantasy author, among many other small feats and accidents. AUTHOR > < SUMMARY & CONTENTS This article is a quick five-minutes read looking into the renewed role of professional headshots and personal branding in the new work environment dominated by remote work and increasing online presence for professionals and workers in all industries. INTRODUCTION WE ARE VISUAL CREATURES REMOTE WORKING YOUNG PROFESSIONALS NETWORKING & YOUR HEADSHOT HOW GOOD IS YOUR HEADSHOT? REAL WORKPLACE STORY MORE INTRODUCTION The workplace in America has always been a competitive environment , constantly evolving from the time Henry Ford developed the first assembly line and Frederick Taylor pushed his Scientific Management principles to the upcoming artificial intelligence revolution. Progressing in any organization goes beyond individual performance . Career progression often involves managing people and interacting with vendors and clients. Here is where emotional intelligence plays a factor built upon soft skills and people skills. None of the above is new, but it stands to logic that professionals and workers must look beyond performance to help their careers, and here is where an often overlooked element comes to play with us as photographers : your headshot . Professionals must look beyond performance and soft skills to progress in their careers. WE ARE VISUAL CREATURES Yes, we all are visual creatures , and while being pretty shouldn't be the reason for anyone to move ahead in an organization, understanding the importance that your image carries to others as a representation of your team and your company does make a difference. Your image is a combination of your physical image and your online presence within an organization. And, you can reach only so many people in person during your busy work schedule. At the same time, your headshot, and other business portrait images, aren't limited by the time you spend with each other individual in your company and beyond. Your headshot and personal branding work all the time for you, for good or for bad, and they are seen (and judged) without you being around to defend them. The larger an organization is, the more critical your digital footprint is. Headshots are not just a first-impression maker but a lasting impression that your supervisors, colleagues, and direct reports will constantly come upon in their Microsoft Outlook systems, Microsoft Teams calls, email signatures, corporate directories, org charts, LinkedIn profiles, and more. Is your headshot the best impression of the professional you are? Is your headshot the best impression of the professional you are? REMOTE WORKING It is not fresh news that since the pandemic, more and more people have been working remotely. Still, the unexpected aspect of the whole situation was that remote working lasted this long for many and that the workplace has become a hybrid system. Most of your coworkers don't see you in person as often as they did before or never at all One of those changes that come with remote working is that most of your coworkers don’t see you in person as often as they did before . That’s when your headshot becomes your avatar representing you in the workplace; people see your headshot more than they see you . YOUNG PROFESSIONALS That lack of face-to-face interaction is even more acute for young professionals who just recently joined the workforce and started working from day one from home. While the deal has many benefits, such as saving you a long commute or having to relocate, there is also a massive impact on the social aspect of connecting with the people who work with you. That is not a minor detail to overlook. Young professionals need good headshots more than ever. Getting to know the rest of the team is important for effective teamwork and communication. When people don't get to know you, they will use other pieces of information to understand who you are and how you work. That's where your headshot (and any other images of you that you share professionally) will play a more significant role in your career and interactions with coworkers, supervisors, and direct reports. The gap in social clues caused by the lack of face-to-face contact also drives more social media connections with coworkers to fill the gap. NETWORKING & YOUR HEADSHOT In addition to the above is the matter of networking; and how your network becomes both: your job security and your source of new job opportunities . Building a solid network is hard to do when you cannot shake hands, share lunch, chat after a meeting or before while having a coffee, etc., but that does not mean that the opportunity isn't there, just that in order to build a strong network you have to work with the online portals, social media and digital media that is replacing those other opportunities. If your company, as most these days, uses Microsoft Office and Outlook, you know that your headshot shows right there, beside your name, when someone receives an email from you. While many people pay no attention to their corporate profile picture , the truth is that your headshot is a key part of your branding and tells a lot about you. HOW GOOD IS YOUR HEADSHOT? Is your headshot a professional headshot or just a selfie? Did you go to a studio or just cropped a photo from your wedding? Are you smiling, or do you look too serious? Is your headshot current, or is it one of those photos where you look just out of college? I’m sure you have seen all the above situations in your workplace and the same counts for LinkedIn. Your headshot is part of your personal presentation , and your headshot either supports or (negatively) impacts every other piece of information you share with your coworkers during your working day. Think about your headshot as your most important marketing ; working for you as a good logo works for a brand. You need a headshot that makes you feel confident and helps you reach your goals. REAL WORKPLACE STORY About real workplace stories and opportunities for your new headshot to play a role in your career, check this review from Ricardo ( Ricardo's Review ). After having his new headshot, he found himself at a Zoom call with the CIO and a few other top executives and his headshot was at the level he needed to shine. AUTHOR > < Another situation we often see at the studio is clients who have been with the very same headshot for too long and now they look nothing like their headshot . A lot of today's business and the very important "first contact" happen on digital. Imagine that one of your clients refers you to someone else and that person googles your web page, Facebook or some other pieces of your digital you. Then after a few conversations on the phone, text messages or emails you both meet in person but your client cannot truly tell you are the same person than the one on your (very outdated) headshot... Yes, the awkward feeling will all go away after a hopefully brief and uncomfortable moment but you only have one chance to make a first impression .... We recommend renewing your headshot every three to five years. Keep your profile picture in LinkedIn and your corporate website fresh and current. If you are afraid of the camera, then moreover you need to take this seriously. The reason why we recommend a full photoshoot session instead of a quick shot is because you get extra time to relax and warm up to the camera. While you are not in control of what happens when someone googles you, or what device your client or the headhunter, is using to find you, you do have control of how good that headshot looks and how professionally it presents you. Feel free to continue reading more about headshots and business portraits, here at the blog or reach us at the studio to chat about options for you. AUTHOR > < Christian's Review: Excellent customer service, Sabrina and Emilio absolutely exceeded my expectations. I am very happy with the system they have in place to select the best pictures and I'm satisfied with the time and quality I received them. When we first met Christian, he was starting his career in real estate and had just obtained his real estate license. While he did not have direct experience working as a realtor, Christian began investing and selling real estate a few years ago and did so well that he decided to go full-time in the industry. Christian had recently moved from New Jersey, and he realized that having a solid professional image would be imperative since that first impression would work really well for him. Christian didn't have the advantage of a local network of friends and family to tap into when trying to develop leads and gain experience in Houston. During our first call, I pointed Christian to the type of session that could help him cover the multiple marketing opportunities an agent has for his marketing, including the HAR profile picture, business cards, social media pages, and his broker's website . Referral Network - Why Your Headshot Matters One of the main sources of new business generation for realtors is their referral network. That is when someone who knows you, either a former client or someone from your close network, passes your name along to a potential seller or buyer. Usually, your contact information is shared together with some type of appreciation from those who are referring you based on their experience working with you but regardless of that, the most likely next step for that potential client is to Google you ... And guess what piece of marketing would be between the very first your potential client will find online? Yes! Is that headshot you have in HAR, or in your broker's website, or in your new Facebook page. Your headshot is one of the very first impressions you will make on potential clients . Is that a good impression? Your headshot is an example of the quality and attention to detail that you deliver. Think about this as if you were hiring any other service. Would you hire someone who's headshot shows that he or she didn't care at all? Or would you hire someone who looks as professional and successful as the person you are going to trust one of your most important assets? Investing in a good headshot by working with a good photographer is one of those marketing projects that makes a huge difference in the real estate industry. If you are starting a career in real estate and need to develop your branding, please call us at the studio at 281.665.3868 or just fill out the Booking & Information contact form , and we'll contact you at your convenience. • Studio Business Portraits Pros and Cons

AUTHOR > < A full body portrait, standing up or sitting, is a good complement for your headshot and can be used on multiple pieces of marketing from your website to flyers and brochures. However, these larger images will not work very well for LinkedIn and other digital platforms as profile pictures just because the real estate on those platforms is very limited and even a half-body portrait will need to be cropped to make your face visible to the users. The fact that many times your image will render in a mobile device (phone or table) also makes full body portraits too tiny to be effective at LinkedIn or other business apps like Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Oultook. So, these types of images will fail at communicating with your audience. Regardless, there is still room to use this tool in your advertising. A full body portraits is perfect for anyone who has control over the platform and channels where the image is going to be use. Lawyers and professionals in the financial and real estate industries can broadcast their position and expertise thru the strong impression provided by these images. When shooting we have the option to either use natural light or create you portrait with the power and options provided by the full studio setup.
